I draw your attention to rogue journalist Caitlin Johnstone, a touchstone source for independent thinkers. She is tenacious enough to separate truth from the spewing firehoses of propaganda, misinformation, disinformation, and conventional wisdom: How To Be A Mentally Sovereign Human.

My mother believed that Hindus would not be a starving lot if they would just partake of the sacred cows lording it up in India. She was hardly the only person to arrive at such solution, many meaters will tell you that releasing animals from a slaughterhouse would precipitate incredible confusion for the animals and for all the commuters prevented from bringing home the bacon by enormous traffic jams, such as all those chickens crossing the highway. More realistically, a scan of animal parts at the checkout lane electronically initiates a replenishment order.

The Wild West myth is whitewashed to sanctify wanton lust for land and riches, justified as a divine right in Holy Lands myths. In some cases at least, the pig receives more than a Thanksgiving-Day pardon: a stake in the Middle East (itself a Eurocentric term) with a white visage geographically located in “The Holy Land.” A holy place that deliberately excludes one of the three Monotheistic faiths, Islam, as an eternal enemy

White-centric history books thoroughly propagandize the role of animal “agriculture,” the fencing in of the plains for “livestock”, the cowboy drives of cattle to market, the railroad cowboys who would stop to slaughter bison for the sheer sport of it. To tell the truth is to share the obvious, to follow the conventional wisdom is to justify the protracted torture and slaughter of highly sentient creatures for appetite and fashion. A single field trip to any factory farm is unthinkable, it really is incomprehensible what occurs there, yet a single trip to a supermarket should suffice to inform a customer that something very wrong happened, and not just in that single marketplace.

Here is an account of someone’s “insight” into the connection between the cuddly farm animals brought to your table, and how it all wonderfully comes together full circle to become a perfect moment for delivering a life-lesson at an idyllic family-friendly farm.

Samantha told us how a lot of the reasoning behind these visits is due to how much misinformation there is in the world, especially in social media, regarding what she referred to as “animal agriculture,” the literal farming of animals. We turned a corner to see some cows happily grazing at a trough as they waited to be milked, and learned about the economics of the situation. In particular, it currently costs more to milk a cow than it does to sell the milk itself, which makes the business a little difficult. We would later learn that the farm sold some cows in the past to help make ends meet due to this pricing crisis.

      I do think we are at a crossroad. I hope the price of meat these days is a bit of a wake up to people too that it’s a hardly sustainable way of life.
      Have you seen the Netflix “game changers”? Should be shown in schools.

      1. That image is a good reminder to beware of sharp objects that could pierce your foot, a tire, or attire. Perhaps that fork in the road image might become an international traffic sign for just such hazards.
        Have not seen “game changers”, but do not watch much TV, so thanks for reminding me that some good stuff is passing my eye — will now research that. Schools certainly need better stuff.

  2. Well, so-called ‘humans’ are stubborn creatures and so I don’t know what it will take for them to wake up to the fact that it is not in their best interest to eat’ animals’ of ANY kind. Maybe enough of them need to die from so-called animal to human transmitted diseases before they get a clue. And on another note, I have read about the fact that dairy farmers are going bankrupt in spades because no one is buying milk. I don’t know if it is because so-called ‘humans’ have realized that milk for calves should not be served to ‘humans’ or what, but that is at least somewhat of a positive.

    Unfortunately, it usually takes something seriously drastic for change to take place, Bill. Will this latest to come down the pike do it? We shall see.

    1. Hey Shelby, thank you for the compliment. Human and humane are antonyms, humans are the only creature that thinks so damned highly of their species that every other species must “naturally” be subservient to them. Already by the second chapter of the first of the planetwide-distributed bible finds their god “creating” livestock. What does that say about any time that all that “stock” got to spend in the wild? There’s something about the skin color and European characteristics that get applied to all those biblical characters, including god-father and god-son — escapes me at the moment.
      Speaking of wild animals, there is nothing quite as vengeful as a virus that jumps from a free wild animal to a presumptuous species such as sapiens — coming down the pike right now. Viruses are as parasitical as homo sapiens.

  3. Here they are printing meat and sent a printer to the space station. Since I am a vegetarian it all seems a bit pointless as if nobody ate animals the planet would be in a much better shape. I suppose there is hope as where I live we have supposedly the highest number of vegetarians and vegans per population and in Tel-aviv almost every restaurant has vegetarian and vegan options. Every year more people here are quitting meat but in some places you can eat at places like they ate in the palace 500 years ago.

  4. The more people who learns that heating flesh creates carcinogens in that flesh, the more people will realize that changing the structure of flesh for human consumption is basically karma. Thanks, Bill.

    1. Thank you from the depth of my chakra for such a kind compliment, sandomina. I have been distilling these thoughts since the 1960s — on a manual Underwood at one point, collecting them in a filing cabinet at another point, always intending to assemble them into some coherent form. In 1973 I experienced an epiphany that seemed to foreshadow the climatic circumstance that researchers in the fossil-fuel hegemonies were simultaneously sequestering. By nature, I am a late bloomer, having somehow known that patience was my lot — a good thing since I nearly died in 1975 from an infected intestine.
      Sandomina, knowing you are glued to my articles encourages me to keep the verve going.

  6. Great post Bill and I very much like the article you link to. It does mean all those things; I know people running round spouting about ‘kindess’ – ‘be kind!’ and then they head off to eat their roast chicken dinner or cheese casserole. They have a limited capacity for that which they plead for, and rarely seem to understand that deeds speak louder than words. You and I have been talking of kindness and doing our utmost best to acheive all it covers for aeons; that’s true kindness, and the truth hurts because it is painful to hear. The planet being affected is bothering them all mind you so things are moving forward, but it isn’t to my mind for compassionate reasons, it’s for them selves, for the future generations of their kin, I’ll take it mind, the less lives tortured the better, In it’s most simple terms it isn’t necessary to consume animals to live a healthy life. If the virus has come from animals as some reports say – from markets where the animals are kept in cages to be sold and consumed then it will be a fitting revenge for the poor creatures. I’ve always said God may well be a giant chicken, and if so, it’s wrath shall be mighty one day.
