This is an essential article — a clear and sustaining statement that maintains its focus. It quite simply dispels facile, self-serving, soothing delusions that keep the inconceivably evil nihilist machinery profitable and unstoppable. Motives matter enormously.

Unfortunately, my ancestors knew what it felt like to be ‘penned in’ since they were in fact, put in ‘slave pens’. Maybe that is one of the reasons why I could so easily cease to eat fellow sentient beings; it is in my DNA. And many descendants of slaves are vegans. Go figure!

Capitalism is an efficient mechanism for directing returns on investment to the most wealthy, to the captains of hegemony, to the network of old White men — not *all* White, just 99.9% or so. Productivity gains accrue to the very few, the prison-industrial system (a school-to-prison system) and the refugee-industrial camps are ramping up to keep the internment institutions profitable for the politically connected ( a prison population largely Black and ‘penned in’ ). Prisons, internment camps, and slaughterhouses have much in common. Do they not?
Veganism offers something that capitalism does not, making it a lightning rod for hatemongers and trolls. Anthony Bourdain saved his vilest bile for vegans, as the following video demonstrates. Enjoy!

Bill, you may not believe this, but I never watched one show featuring Anthony Bourdain. Something about him just gave me the creepy-crawlies and after he died, I just knew that accolades would come pouring out over his passing which in my opinion, was just too over the top for words especially after I found out that the creepy-crawly feeling I got from just seeing him, was in fact, justified. I will watch the video. But I am sure that nothing it contains will surprise me.

It’s ever so lovely to hear from Mumbletune’s heartthrob: Gretel. Of course, the brilliant voice of “Motives” belongs to *There’s an Elephant in the Room* — I merely stand on the shoulders of elephants, peering into the darkness for poachers and big-game murderers along the horizons. While peering, I tune in to Catholic radio for the unlikely presence of a progressive voice. SETI ( Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence) volunteers listen for intelligent life from distant solar systems, I volunteer for SCI (Search for Catholic Intelligence). So far, nothing to report from EWTN, Ave Maria Radio, XM Catholic Radio, or The Abby Johnson Channel. 🙂
