Talking Turkey About Climate

Let’s talk turkey…

For 245 million turkeys, a lifespan averages 4 months — 3 generations per year. A wild turkey can live up to 10 years, fly 55 miles an hour, and run 35 miles an hour.

…climate change does change everything. Adopting a vegan diet is powerful enough to slow the course, to stem a looming mega threat to the only planet we have. She has already shaken off five extinction events, a sixth won’t stop her. When climate goes rogue, the planet does not die. She’ll have to wait for the sun to extinguish under the weight of depleted helium atoms. She will still revolve around the sun and still rotate on her axis daily. The beings she nourished from Extinction Event 1 through Event 5 lived under the same star,  the Sun.

Once a rolling stone starts rolling downhill, you can’t stop it, unless:

  1. a miracle happens

OK, short list.

Humankind always abides every threat, doesn’t it? Where was humankind during the previous five extinction events? Not around, Ken Ham, of AnswersInGenesis notwithstanding. Scripture is not science.

What a terrible time to suffer a ne’er-do-well in the Oval Office. We’ve set a boulder atop Sysiphus’ boulder. Full speed aHell.

The Art of the Devil: A Memoir by D. Trump, forward by Alistair Crowley.

Become a vegan and take the single most effective step for stemming global warming. But that’s a non-starter, isn’t it?

There’s no way, man.

Get real, Bill. Who made you boss?

Yeah, I’m like, right.

My eyes roll in your general direction.

Nobody really knows.

A fable

A mythical Sysiphus rolls a mythical boulder up a mountain. Sisyphus’ twin meets his brother at the mountain’s peak. I’ll call him Sysiphus B. He accepts the boulder from Sysiphus. The twin’s task: keep the orb from rolling any farther downhill. His feet are slipping on some moss. He can’t push the boulder upwards, he can only slow its progress. Somewhere between marker 1.5 and marker 2.0, Sysiphus B has to stop the boulder, else:

Game Over.

Editors note:

Dear Meat Eater, I used to be among the crowd you’re in with. A body gets very weary during detox. The more meat you eat, the more toxins you must excrete. I’ve had to detox from alcohol. In my experience, detox from animal cells takes longer, you get tired and feel depleted, but don’t blame a plant-based diet. Cold, dead turkey, sorry for piling my plate with your white and dark. I don’t expect an apology, cold dead turkey. I did the crime and served the time, but the animals I have consumed are still dead meat.

There is nothing great about being a mega-greedy species (the crowd I’m in with), one that drains the lifeblood of trillions of fish, billions of birds, billions of land creatures 24/7/365 (366 on leap years). It’s not a thing to be proud of. Karma presents as arterial plaque, over-burdened heart, stroke to the brain, diabetes. Statistically speaking. Who knows?

You may say I’m dreaming, but I’m not the only one.

Let’s talk some more turkey:

  • 245 million turkeys raised and killed every year in the U.S.
  • More than 46 million of them are killed each year at Thanksgiving alone,
  • more than 22 million die at Christmas.

T’day is six weeks away, today is a good day to start a detox.

Meat, Dairy, Ova and Addiction

Veganism is gentle joy.

But it’s not very manly, Bill

owl.breakfast

Public Service Announcement:

Refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking tobacco or consuming Fentanyl® if you are, or think you may be, pregnant — chemicals found in these products may poison the womb and its contents.

Meat, Dairy and Ova

Do baby Homo sapiens already become addicted to meat while in the womb? Is meat an addictive substance? Is it harmful for children and other living things?

Meat is addictive.

Meat is life.

A field-trip activity:

Write anarchical vegan-inspired statements on a T-shirt and get thee to the local Kroger Dupermarket. Warning: wearing T-shirts may result in sudden death and/or punctured tires.

Meat-Eaters to Vegans — Drop Dead!

Here is a loaded question: do vegans threaten world order?  Meat economies consume much land, they poison much air, they kill much marine life — they even supercharge extinction events. See Anthropocene.

What happens after each of those extinction events?

The planet still rotates on its axis, the planet still revolves around the sun.

Beings from five earlier extinctions lived from sunrise to sunset to sunrise to sunset…

Now a word from our sponsor:

Hey, what is that congealed substance that remains in the skillet after you’ve skilletized pig parts or spatuled blood-laden cow flesh? Does it clog a human consumer’s veins, arteries, heart and brain?

Just put bacon on it and chill. Life is short — throttle it.

I wonder if that stuff sticks in sewer pipes? Answer at Waste-Water Archives

FOG

Did you know that most doctors are meat-eaters?

What about cereal killers, Bill?

Carnivores have sharp teeth for some reason. Carnivores have short digestive tracts for some reason. There is a subtle difference between wild animals and domesticated animals for some reason.

It’s a matter of self-defense, we die or the cow dies, and we’re smarter than cows.

Veganism 102: Think Outside the Asylum

According to a highly anonymous source the holiday season begins with monster-sized sales of Halloween junk food or junk ephemera. It peaks on Super Bowl Sunday to celebrate the nation’s Gross Decadent Product — it’s gross, it’s decadent, it’s a product.

Marketing term of the day: Bold Challenge: the perfect balance between perfidy and truth. Get away with whatever you can, whenever you can, whatever the stretch. Gain advantage. Think bottom line. Think Glengarry Glen Ross.

Meat is Violence

Well Bill, let me explain the game of American football. The NFL is life. In college I learned that football programs fund universities. Sports medicine is the sugar that keeps the doctor away. Concussions: a money-making bold challenge for research grant seekers. Research dollars flow to research grant holders. Jobs is jobs is jobs. Now that is a bold challenge. It’s where the smart money gravitates. Live with it.

What to do with all that depleted uranium? Proclaim it a natural resource. Naturally it’s a resource, one discovered by Americans for Americans in America. Does that star-spangled banner still wave?

What’s next? Well, in daydreams I fancy myself a broadcaster working for the sports at Fox.

What inspired that Bill?

Well, I read that math and science is superfluous for science reporters at Fox News (the balanced and the fair). One Fox science reporter majored in wrestling.

And so, my awe-inspiring paucity of sports knowledge qualifies me eminently. Bill Ziegler, sports expert for Fox Sports (or whatever it’s called).

Do I digress, or what?

Veganism is not even recognized in the WordPress dictionary of spellings. It’s simply not in the database. What gives?  That’s my question. Veganism reduces madness on befouled planets. Not a bad idea. Really. Think outside the asylum.

Vote Big Coal Kentucky! Revive depleted uranium for military vehicles racing through the Middle East. Weapons proudly labelled “Made in the USA” and protected by the Second Amendment.

Mad in the USA.

Speaking of the sports metaphor, are they hiring at the white phosphorous plant up in Chemical Valley? The Charleston River flows into the Ohio River. They call it the chemical capital of the world. It’s in West Virginia, where the jobs aren’t. American jobs not already stolen by Indians in India or Indian-giving (tongue-in-cheek) Indians in North America.

Union Carbide once operated a plant in Bhopal India…

Look Bill. Get real and get with the program. ’nuff said?

Hey Bill, aluminum cans are flimsy, not like the steel ones we made right here in these States of the United. But do you know what’s not flimsy: beer cans tempered with depleted uranium. We have a lot of this raw material. It’s a resource, naturally enough.

The Graduate-level advice in two words: depleted uranium.

Veganism: What Gives?

Treading lightly upon the Earth is at the heart of veganism: a choice so odd that WordPress does not recognize “veganism” in its rather large dictionary.. Somehow that makes me feel important, centered and focused.

What did you do that for, Bill? Like the über odd man out, boat rocker tree hugger? If you like fruit salad so much why don’t you marry it?

fruit.salad.pee.wee

Fruit Salad Wedding

Well it’s more like finding a life. Being or not being a vegan? There’s an interrogative! And here is a declarative: inimitably skilled pharmacists in anticoagulants  Amanda and Rachel are now following my progress, and have been since I gradually began improving my food-chemical choices.

I guess it really is odd: the one not eating chicken when there are twice as many chickens on Earth as there are people, and with the planet not running low on the homo sapiens at the moment. Will check on this and come right back.

I’m back. Right, there are a few billion or so consumers as of this evening on the sun’s third planet.

Yeah, but you’re not going to make a difference so what’s the deal then?

Feeling important, centered and focused I realize that it’s only me twisting my own arm here, not yours. Just saying.

Meat and meat byproducts, mechanically separated or otherwise, start to deliver chemicals to your body at first chew. They combine with other chemicals in your system to produce a replacement body.

Reuters sent out a press release on a new stance by the World Health Organization WHO today, noted in The Guardian. WHO proposes including processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen, a group shared by asbestos, alcohol, arsenic and tobacco. I’m going to listen for a response from the meat industry. This opposition may relate to sales volume. The economic significance of products derived from the sale of animals is far from negligible. There could be economic repercussions caused by negative publicity. Jury is still out on that one, they may look at the same data as the WHO and agree with them. Your guess is as good as mine. Or they may torture the data until it produces the desired result. We’ll just have to wait and see.

That’s nice Bill but I wanted you to write about nut butters. When are you going to write about nut butters?
