Lincoln, Lies, and Liberty

The Lincoln Memorial is a perennial must-visit destination for school field trips, disparate marches, and movements of all persuasion. Unfortunately, it is a super-sized serving of baseless beliefs and wholesale lies.

Consider that throughout the presidential campaign of 1860, then-candidate Lincoln had all but promised not to interfere with Southern slavery, which he reiterated in his first presidential inaugural address:

ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery) are witnesses — and PTSD survivors — of an extraordinarily 401 years of a unique experience in this country. ADOS blacks were truncated from Africa, an incomparably rich and diverse interlacing tapestry of cultures denied to every cargo load that docked here, beginning in 1619. The only surviving documents for those stolen families are shipping manifests, and few of those have survived to the present.  Breaking their spirits began a centuries-long history of vile degradation at the hands of the whites who benefitted from systemic white supremacy from the day they were born —  an unearned birthright  for whites, an exceptional denial by a country that deems itself exceptional among all other countries on the planet. A decidedly ungated, not yet “gentrified” community

Former slave owners found themselves in a temporary economic bind when their principal source of wealth generation disappeared, so the reunited States government provided reparations to see them through. To the victor go the reparations. The former slaves and their descendants were the principal losers of institutions that had already been brutally exploiting blacks since 1619 and continue to be ruthlessly brutalized to this very day. The white participants still had plenty of opportunities to continue the exploitation of ADOS, making easy targets in the 13th Amendment

Even though Lincoln was elected president, he had done so with almost no support from the South and less than 40% of the popular vote. And in a move that many refer to as “political genius,” Lincoln appointed his political rivals to cabinet positions, ostensibly to destroy enemies by making them friends — a move that would lead to disloyalty and backroom drama.

The white participants found new opportunities to continue the exploitation of ADOS. The 13th Amendment does not hide the catch clause in the small print, it places that gotcha right in the middle, in an exception clause, the devil slithers in the details.

ADOS blacks have always been denied ties to an incomparably rich and diverse continent of interlacing cultures denied to every cargo load that docked here from 1619 forward.

Africa without Europeans

How do you make reparation to a people who singlehandedly made it possible for the US to move from an agrarian to an industrial economic power? This is a superpower that offers little to ADOS. Well, there is this way:

“Mistakes were made. This is ancient history, so get with the program.”

Mistakes — a genteel way to apply centuries of whitewash, to breed generations of apologists who pledge to the spirit of American Exceptionalism: one soundbite at a time, faithfully parroted from each generation to the next.

Wealthy whites (there are essentially no wealthy blacks) believe their destiny rests on manifest destiny ship manifests for stolen Africans) from the first mistold Thanksgiving to the NFL of the USA football games in November that marks a moment when colonialists and savages broke bread. Is taking a knee a traitorous? Are BLM protestors exceptionally criminal sorts who threaten godfearing lovers of Law and Order who consistently vote for judges who are “tough on crime.”

This country progressed from an agrarian to an industrial economy: one drop of a slave’s blood at a time.

The Except Clause and the Prison-Industrial System

This post speaks very specifically to the American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS), the unique contributions of ADOS, and the white-supremacist capitalist system that has exploited them 24/7 from 1619 to 2020 and counting. The most powerful racist in the world has announced the launch of the 1776 Commission, a vehicle to derail The 1619 Project, and to return American history students to the familiar whitewashed fabrications.

The 3/5ths Compromise of 1787 was a Southern strategy designed to bestow important slaver citizens with political advantage. Of course, slavers reckoned the intrinsic value at zero — that 3/5ths gave a slaver 60% more political power in an Electoral System that views one-person one-vote as a threat to the body politic.

The Civil War from 1861-1865 was a three-sided conflagration comprised of three groups: Northern Whites, Southern Whites, and human resources stolen from Africa. The principal losers were the individuals . Upon the “end of hostilities” the Northern Whites paid reparations to the slavers and declared a level playing field for all three participating groups. The losing ethnicity received nothing but black words on white paper: The 13th Amendment to The Constitution, the 13th replaced the 3/5ths Clause with the Except Clause:

except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted

The except clause effectively expunged the first five words of the 13th Amendment: Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude

That except clause is a “get someone into jail” card that never expires. It is a lynching instrument that permits an “officer of the law” to stop black kids and to ask them for identification, then to keep that ID — a souvenir if you will. The next time a fellow “officer of the law” asks for that kid’s ID, he is authorized to take him into custody. The identification card can literally end up in a cigar box. Jim Crow never dies. The bail-bond system is another means deployed to qualify ADOS to the prison system — another deliberately designed feature.

Those “without a racist bone in their bodies” would insist that ADOS (though they never use that term) actually benefit from some quasi quota advantages that end up marginalizing white people. As if racism had suddenly gone from a full-speed ahead into a full-speed reverse.

How much have ADOS received for the multiple trillion dollar trade deals that free labor injected into the economy? How many pennies have they received so far. Where are all the indigenous peoples today?

The Klan never dies, it just wears different hoods. What do you call a police officer who lynches ADOS? A hero?

ADOS women are the most marginalized citizens of a country defined and conquered by a patriarchy that permeates the power structure. The most powerful whites in the most powerful roles of society benefit from judicial decisions that trace their birthright to consistently conservative elites who benefit from Originalism — a narrow look at the “justice” system as it existed at the time of the founding slavers. It directs the most wealth to an ever smaller number of white ultra-rich, those few are all white. They enjoy privileges written into law since the founding white slaver fathers.

The interlocking control of all three branches of the federal government keeps the boards of directors white and male. How many ADOS billionaires can you name? How many homeless ADOS does it take to float the most selfish, protected, and greedy captains of the modern economy — the same billionaires who won’t yield a dime, the white men who commit 99% of the crime, the white men who cannot be touched, the white men admired for their inability to live any other way.

Systemic Racism in Western Civilization

The systemic racism of Western Civilization originated in Europe. The overwhelming firepower available to European-based empires quickly destroyed every indigenous culture in their path. Genocide provided safe homesteads where colonists from Europe could expand with ease. Plunder provided instant wealth for the respective imperialists and opened up “trade routes.” The proceeds permitted well-funded military forces to police the “newly discovered” land. The realms of influence established new borders, new names, and the “gift” of Western Civilization.

Human resources (Blacks) loaded into cargo ships arrived in North America along circular “trade routes” along the Atlantic Ocean. The human resources did not emigrate from Africa, they were summarily chopped off from their homelands to permit ambition and self-whiteousness to quickly transform the “new nations” to quickly leap from an agrarian to an industrial society. The indigenous populations lost everything to the Europeans, including vast populations who stood in their. The people stolen from Africa became the most despised and the most marginalized. Their progeny are American Descendants of Slavery (ADOS). Racism is a white-supremacist product of white-supremacist arrogance. Do not conflate Black immigrants from established homelands in Africa, those immigrants were never enslaved. That distinction matters 401 years (and counting) later. Today. It is headquartered in the Oval Office.

Reverse Racism is a conspiracy theory as specious as Q-anon.

Who claims that racism no longer exists in the US?

Who could simply insist that racism no longer exists? Is such arrogance conceivable? Yes, it is. Last week, I listened to an interview with racist R.R. Reno, author of Return of the Strong Gods: Nationalism, Populism, and the Future of the West Reno would have you believe that racism is a thing of the past, that Fascism disappeared in 1945, that nationalism is passé. R.R. is an über conservative Catholic convert from Episcopalianism who effected transition to a more diverse flock by moving from a church with a 3% Black congregation to a church with 4% Black representation. Mr. Reno is charmed by the strong man in the Oval Office and is a staunch opponent of nonexistent foes labeled Antifa (anti-fascist). Presumably, the antonym is profa.

Today, anti-racism, like anti-fascism, anti-homophobia, and other crusades against bigotry and exclusion, is first and foremost an instrument of attack and assassination that serves the interests of liberal power.

R.R. Reno, Anti-Bigotry and Liberal Power

Right-wing Catholic media offer no quarter to any left-wing voices. They believe that their institution is suffering under something called White (bloodless) Persecution that threatens to morph into Red (bloody) Persecution. Have they noticed that 5 of the 9 SCOTUS justices are Catholic? Do they know that Attorney General William Barr is Catholic? Methinks they doth protest too much. They spent 8 years decrying the worst POTUS ever: number 44. Yes, the evil guy who would condemn the Little Sisters of the Poor to the enablement of contraceptors.

Pope Francis is widely condemned as a tool of Marxist ideologues in Latin and South America. The anti-antifa proclaim that the US is exceptionally free of imperial ambition, that the benevolent goal is bringing “American Democracy” to every independent country south of the Rio Grande, that puppets are not installed and controlled by American corporations who work in tight collaboration with the government (isn’t that the definition of fascism?). No, we bring peace with hegemony to our friends in Central and South America who need a big brother. Fascism is long dead, doncha know? Never forget September 11, 1973.

Nixon and Kissinger had their way on September 11, 1973, as the democratically elected Allende was overthrown in a CIA-backed military coup. After Allende’s death, thousands of socialists, communists, and labor activists were murdered by General Augusto Pinochet’s regime, which soon became a testing ground for neoliberal shock therapy. Yet before it became a grim example of elites’ willingness to trash democracy, Allende’s experiment was itself a beacon for the international left.

EWTN presents listeners with 24/7 conservative programming. Their issues run the entire gamut from solidly right-wing voices to fanatically right-wing voices. Each would assure us that the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church does not take sides in political campaigns. Rather, they ask each listener to follow a very simple litmus test — is the candidate pro-life or do they collaborate with the culture of death. Trump survives the test, he is both anti-antifa and anti-antichoice. A good man who dares to tell the truth. EWTN recently canceled its only program hosted by a Black. Racism no longer exists, of course, that would explain it.

They decry the “abhorrent 1960s” and the Communism that was Liberation Theology. Should Pope Francis return to his fellow unholy leftists in Argentina? Deport him to Cuba or to his beloved Palestine? Pope Benedict could simply remove the Emeritus from his name and return to the open arms of a Mother Church that is Steve Bannon friendly.

The Catholic Channel takes a somewhat lighter approach than EWTN, but nota bene: expect continuous laugh-tracks on The Catholic Guy Show and Busted Halos, very seriously annoying laugh-tracks. Treacle-down Economics

As slow as molasses does the treacle trickle.

Capitalism and fascism are two political vectors that get the job done, but they are as sausage, citizens do not want to know where it comes from. In case you hadn’t already known, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is now dictator of Hungary. Be assured that Viktor is still a friend of Donald (present leader of the American Empire and a brand accepted by tyrants the world over). 

“Making matters worse, the only effective opposition to Orbán and Fidesz is the far right Jobbik Party, an often overtly anti-Semitic and anti-Roma movement that for years had a jackbooted militia that marched through Roma neighborhoods in uniforms evocative of those of the Nazi-era Arrow Cross, the group that murdered Jews on the banks of the Danube.” 

The basics have not changed. The celebration of ignorance has been going on here since the 15th Century in the hemisphere of my birth.

Jeff Bezos is the de facto image of capitalism at play in a game, the face behind the treacle. The yoke is on his employees, but capitalism is not a game designed to entertain the worker, it is something to be endured. These are the successful spawners of imperialism — by those who had already perfected the art of Western Civilization. The founders of The American Empire would appreciate t he likes of Jeff Bezos — capitalism abhors anyone who abhors waste, whether it be billions of passenger pigeons, millions of bison, millions of human resources extracted from Africa, or the fossil fuels from the biomass of an earlier extinction event.

The US Empire assumes that every square millimeter on the planet may be subsumed under the foil of national interest. That “interest” includes the right to attack cultures and peoples who are standing in the way, their value gets determined by geopolitical players equipped with unimaginable military force looking to install a puppet regime by force or manipulation. The Monroe Doctrine declared the entire hemisphere a free-enterprise fire zone backed up by the company gunboats for corporations such as United Fruit Company. We come in peace, let us fit you with this here yoke.

White-Supremacists need feel no personal complicity in the devastation that they leave in their wake, the spoils go to the proudly arrogant and/or the abominably ignorant, history books make crooked paths appear straight. Nixon’s revenge came in the form of Fox News.

It has been this way since the first “white man” brought report of plunder to their respective monarchies. Machiavellians stole the land, killed the former land-dwellers, and brought slaves from Africa to man the fields. New Europe “needed” the free labor that a cultured and polite white society enjoys.

Voter-Suppression schemes deliberately exclude Blacks from casting ballots. Trump’s SCOTUS appointments have already tipped the balance in favor of further marginalization. Those two justices have already cast their weighty ballots to create an ever more racist union, gerrymandering is now the law of the land.

The Supreme Court Case That Enshrined White Supremacy in Law

This country’s white-supremacist system is steeped in insatiable greed and anchored in unassailable law, it is a colonial/capitalist engine designed to extract ever more from non-whites and to direct the profits into a white-controlled oligarchy that is 100% homogenized. Trumpism = Imperial US White Fascism, a form of racism that prefers to take no prisoners.

Treacle trickles slowly, but the billionaire class sucks up like a Hoover.

Productivity gains should accrue to persons working the longest and the hardest, but those enormous gains flow rather to the self-same coffers of the few and the mighty. For a capitalist, “creating wealth” is like taking candy from a baby — something that only a sociopath would do, not a person with a soul. To the sociopath it’s only the treacling that matters Treacle-down Economics in a treacle-down system.

The history passed on to every generation is whitewashed into that very color and has been since day one of this God-bless-the-whites society; wealth by stealth is the abnormal-normal: the multi-billionaire class. How many billionaires are Black?

The white-written history of this place is filled to the brim with lies and delusions of grandeur, passed on from one generation of white thieves and liars to the next. Telling the truth is unAmerican activity.

Gentrification is colonization.

Colonization and gentrification have run the entire hemisphere since the 15th Century, they had established slavery by the 16th Century, and desire to continue at an ever-increasing rate into the 21st Century. They displace entire tapestries of cultures with breathtaking brutality and rapidity. Gentrification (‘people of gentle birth’, ‘landed gentry’). To ‘colonize’ better describes the dynamic, to ‘settle’ always denotes a white-supremacist narrative. ADOS (American Descendants of Slaves) are systemically marginalized. To gentrify a neighborhood is a radical act that separates Black culture from roots — it had already started in 1519 — on any square millimeter that whites wish to reseed.

As many historians have pointed out, one of the reasons the South was able to exercise a stranglehold on race relations in national politics was the supervention of the famous three-fifths clause, once the focus of abolitionist attacks on the Constitution. When the former slaves were counted as full persons, the former slave states gained twenty congressional seats, a twenty-five-per-cent bump. They also gained votes in the Electoral College. They suppressed the votes of their African-American residents, then got full representational credit for them.

Both conservatives and neoliberals rely upon tight voter-suppression measures to keep Blacks disenfranchised in perpetuity. This is criminal activity made sacrosanct at every level of government — no taxation but over-representation. What gives with that?
